π΅πΈ Fundraiser for Palestinian Families π΅πΈ
As community members in the indie Toronto music scene, it is our responsibility to amplify and aid efforts in liberation in every way possible. Through this fundraiser, we hope to donate to four Palestinian families with whom we or the organizations on the bill are in direct contact with.
π΅πΈ Details π΅πΈ
This family-friendly community fundraiser for Palestinian families will take place on August 6th from 5PM in Torontoβs West End. Masking is strongly encouraged. Please DM us for the address or send an inquiry to @grito56. You can get tickets at the door ($15-$20+ CAD). At the event, we will also have prints and tote bags available with artwork by the late artist Mohammed Sami (@mohammedsami99) and Hussain Al-Jarjawi (@hsyn._art) who lives in Gaza. If you canβt attend the fundraiser in-person, we will have an online viewing option (send $15-$20 CAD to @grito56, DM for e-transfer details) OR please consider purchasing a tote bag (limited quantities) or a print (see next slides on post). Inquiries for the art can be sent to @gloomdarling for pick-up in Toronto West End or shipping.
π΅πΈ Schedule π΅πΈ
This fundraiser combines musical performances with local organizations who are advocating for a free Palestine. Doors open at 5PM and opening remarks are at 6PM. Members of University-Rosedale 4 Palestine (@ur4palestine), Davenport 4 Palestine (@davenport4palestine), and Davenport Aid Brigade (@davenportaidbrigade) will be available to chat with attendees about their work and how to get involved in local organizing. A short music improvisation set by local band teething (@weareteething) will follow the opening remarks. At 7:30PM, youth-led movement Change Course (@changecourse_ca) will take the stage for 45 minutes to talk about how you can personally divest your money from banks that invest in military and fossil fuel industries. Sets by Moon (@scissormoon), Scooter Jay, Wizards of Osgoode (@wizardsofosgoode) and Human Form will round off the night. We want to extend our sincerest thanks to the organizations and performers who have agreed to play for free
